About ASME

We are the American Society of Mechanical Engineers student chapter at the University of Central Florida. ASME is a national non-profit organization that enables skill development and career enrichment across all engineering disciplines. We encourage all majors to join and be involved.

As a student organization at UCF, ASME help students develop their professional identities by offering access to wide range of activities such as projects, workshops, socials, tours, and volunteering! We also have General Body Meetings to reach out about our plans for the semester so come on out!

Abhishek Sastri
PRESIDENT
​ Abhi is the President of ASME. He is a creator who wants to understand the mechanisms we inhabit who sees opportunity to impact the people around him through business. A hopeful future actor or comedian. An undergrad Aerospace Engineer student, with minors in Entrepreneurship and Professional Selling. He is also a current business venture owner.

Nicole Ramirez
VICE PRESIDENT
Nicole is the Vice President of ASME Her responsibilities include co-managing the club's day to day operations and assisting all other roles in their responsibilites. Nicole is a senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Favorite quote: "Be the change you wish to see in the worl", that is why her aspiration in life is to become a patent attorney to help as many egineers and entrepreneurs impact the future. She has been very active in ASME, participating in SDC and taking advantage of the workshops provided. If you ever need a theme park partner, she's the one to ask! An absolute theme park junky!

Natalie Jehlen
Treasurer
Natalie is the Treasurer of ASME. Her responsibilities include disbursement of funds and managing financial assets of the club. She is a junior with the goal of helping the environment with technical solutions. She hopes that her career will allow her to continue to travel and one day visit every continent. She has worked on projects varying from trebuchets to tomatoes.  In addition, Natalie enjoys marathons, Netflix marathon.

Karen Sanchez
SECRETARY
Karen is the Secretary of ASME. Her responsibilities include taking notes and minutes during meetings, updating the website, and sending out the newsletters. Karen is currently a senior studying mechanical engineering. She joined ASME Fall 2018 and has been actively involved in the club. She was also part of the SDC Gold team. She loves her cat and hopes to travel the world.

Belinda Joseph
Internal programs
Belinda is the Internal Chair of ASME. She is responsible for planning socials, finding guest speakers, and  organizing the clubs involvement with on campus events. A mechanical engineering student who eventually wants to pursue her graduate studies in Biomedical Engineering. Belinda has worked at  Siemens Energy for a year now and has served on the board of Phi Theta Kappa.  She is here to support, contribute, listen, encourage, and strive with all of you great members.
P.S. She is starting a new yoga journey. If anyone wants to embark on one as well, go find her.

External programs
Seiji is the External Chair of ASME. His responsibilities include setting up tours & communicating with engineering companies. Seiji is going into his junior year and diligently working on a BSME with a minor in Computer Science. He is an avid swimmer who likes cars and technology. His dream is to onne day work for Porsche, and also own one.

Carlos Gallego
Projects
Carlos is the Projects chair of ASME. His responsibilities include creating, supervising, and maintaining projects within the club. He is currently studying Mechanical Engineering and is expected to graduate December 2020.  His passion for engineering started when he was a little kid watching his dad solve countless problems, whether it was something technical or even fixing a simple thing at home. This motivated him to keep learning so when a problem arises he has the tools needed to tackle it. He plans on bringing this towards ASME and help the club evolve as well as further improve the opportunities that they provide towards all members.

Nelson Rodriguez
WORKSHOPS
Nelson is the Workshops Chair of ASME. His responsibilities include developing and coordinating workshops.  Nelson has previous experience working hands on as a team lead of the Student Design Competition team. He aims to implement what he learned on the team to future workshops. He likes to spend his free time snowboarding, trail-biking, travelling, and exploring the outdoors. Nelson has his heart set on working in the biomedical industry after graduating.

Reilly Donaldson
FUNDRAISING
Reilly is the Fundraising Chair of ASME. His responsibilities include to fundraising money for the UCF Chapter. This includes delegating those involved and reaching out of companies and sponsors to support ASME's projects and competitions. He is a junior studying mechanical engineering, a nerd at heart and probably spends to much time at the gym. He is looking to make a positive impact on our ASME chapter by seeking fundraising opportunities in and around the UCF community.

Luke Shetler
Events & development
​Luke is the Events & Development chair of ASME. His responsibilities include developing events and increasing club awareness.  He is a fourth year mechanical engineering student from Crestview, Florida. After he graduates, he hopes to either work in the automotive industry or for the Air Force as a test engineer. His hobbies include drumming, baseball. He also loves his two Persian cats.

Shaun Bakhrebah
Marketing dIRECTOR
Shaun is Marketing Director of ASME. His responsibilities include overseeing a marketing plan that expands ASME, promotes skill-increasing events, and increases club awareness. Shaun grew up in Saudi Arabia and moved to the US to pursue an education in Architectural engineering but was intrigued by mechanics of automobiles. He is currently a mechanical engineering student and a sailor in the US Navy. His vision is to use his education & technical experience to create opportunities, spread knowledge, and to engage every person to achieve success and develop leadership & professionalism.

Daniela Martinez
Social Media & Design
Daniela is the Social Media & Design Chair of ASME. Her responsibilities include aiding in social media and creative design of ASME. Daniela is a sophomore student majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She loves sketching, reading novels, watching anime, and most of all her 3 little parrots. She dreams to work in a career that would enable her to design bionic limbs for any kind of disabled animal in the world. Daniela aspires to travel to other countries and study abroad to expand her educational horizon.
